A New Study Says You’ll Burn More Calories by Eating Low-Carb. But That’s Not the Full Story

Even though a recent study has revealed that people who followed a low-carb diet burned more calories than those who consumed a high-carb diet; research has also shown that while people will lose weight on a restrictive diet, maintaining that weight loss is almost impossible. In fact, as Kelly Hogan, RDN says: “most people gain the weight back, and there’s no benefit to a restrictive diet in the first place”.

As my fellow dietitians advised, and as I would also recommend, following a balanced diet that’s high in lean protein, healthy fats, fruits and vegetables, and complex carbohydrates, as well as increased physical activity is a better alternative to cutting out certain foods. The latter might help you lose weight, but it’s not sustainable!
